Wolves draw with Blackburn Rovers in the EFL Championship’s first game of the season

It was a bright start for the hosts, as Marshall Munetsi made a great run forward and found himself one-on-one. He kept his cool and scored the first goal of the contest. One of the league's promotion favourites was in front, and were on the search for their second.
But Blackburn Rovers came back and equalised nine minutes later, as a great header from Sean McLoughlin beat Daniel Bentley. The scoreline was 1-1, and plenty of action remained...
The second half began with the score at 1-1, but three minutes into the second 45, Rovers took the lead. 24-year-old Andri Gudjohnsen latched onto the end of a cross from Dapo Afolayan, giving Tony Mowbray's side a 2-1 lead.
The Icelandic striker had his second goal in as many games, looking to beat his season tally of seven for Blackburn last campaign.
In the 90th minute, four additional minutes were added on. Time was running out for Wolves, but they were awarded a penalty in the 92nd minute. A handball by Ryan Alebiosu offered Raul Jiménez the chance to score on his return to Wolves.
Up he stepped, and he slotted home, sending Balazs Toth the wrong way.
Shortly after, the full-time whistle was blown, with both sides securing a point on matchday one.
Both teams will be feeling disappointed, having missed opportunities to secure all three points.
But there are positives to take for each club, ahead of their second games next week.
