Bradford City win against Burnley in the Carabao Cup

League One side Bradford City were hoping to cause an upset in the Carabao Cup, as they hosted EFL Championship side Burnley.

The Bantams went into the clash following a perfect start to the season. Three games played, three wins and three clean sheets saw Bradford City hit the ground running this campaign. Up next was a chance for Graham Alexander's side to cause a cupset and book their spot in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

But Burnley were hoping to bring an end to the Bantams' perfect start to the season at Valley Parade. The Clarets were searching for their first win in 90 minutes since February, highlighting their struggles this year.

The exciting clash in Yorkshire saw Burnley control possession and have more shots on goal, but they could not capitalise on any of their attacks. The Bantams' brilliant defence was resilient in keeping out their opposition, similar to their recent clash against Sheffield Wednesday.

At half-time, the scoreline was level at 0-0, with both sides relatively pleased with their opening 45 minutes.

The second half was more balanced, with each side having opportunities to create chances.

Valley Parade's home crowd got right behind the Bantams, as they searched for a cup upset. In the away end, Burnley supporters were hoping to witness their first win in six months.

Zian Flemming is the only Burnley player to score this season, and he was substituted on in the final 10 minutes of the match to find a winner.

But at full-time, the score was 0-0, and penalties were to determine the winner.

Two penalties were missed in the shootout, both by Burnley. Zeki Amdouni and Jacob Bruun Larsen both missed from 12 yards out, and Bradford City were perfect from their penalties. A 4-2 shootout win booked Bradford's spot in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

In the draw, Graham Alexander's side were drawn away against fellow League One side Leyton Orient. The cup clash will be the first of two between the sides in less than a month.
