Stockport County confirmed the loan signing of striker Tanto Olaofe from EFL Championship side Charlton Athletic. The forward left Edgeley Park in the summer, completing a move to the Addicks, but has returned to County on loan until the end of the season.

The 26-year-old spent two and a half years at Stockport after joining the Greater Manchester club from Millwall back in 2023. The fee he departed for was close to a club-record fee for Stockport County, with the number believed to be over £1 million.

During Olaofe's time at Edgeley Park, he played 121 matches, scoring 36 goals. He was also part of the squad that won the EFL League Two title during the 2023/24 season.

He moved to Charlton during the summer window, signing a three-year deal, and this season he made 25 appearances for the Championship club, scoring once. His only goal for the club came against Sheffield United, as he helped his side to a 1-0 win.

Tanto's best season was during the 2023/24 season, where he scored 20 goals in 43 league appearances. He finished the following season with nine league goals before making the move to Charlton Athletic.

In his first interview since returning to the club, Olaofe said: "I've missed that feeling of love, feeling valued, so I am definitely looking forward to that feeling coming back home against Plymouth [Argyle] on Saturday."

Dave Challinor's team take on Plymouth Argyle this weekend, who have won seven of their last 11 across all competitions. Stockport have won three of their last four, and sit fourth in the League One table, level on points with third-place Bolton Wanderers.
