Sheffield Wednesday sign Louie Barry

Sheffield Wednesday have been busy this summer transfer window, completing numerous deals ahead of their first pre-season match. The Yorkshire outfit had a tough 2025/26 season, but they are hoping next campaign can be a memorable one for the right reasons.

The Owls have completed yet another signing, with their most recent done deal being Louie Barry from Aston Villa.

The former La Masia player has completed another signing move from last season’s Europa League winners on a permanent deal, penning a four-year contract with the club.

Barry, aged 23, has spent a large amount of his career out on loan, with his most successful spells in his career coming at Stockport County.

During his time at Edgeley Park, he made himself a standout player for the Hatters and was one of League One’s best players in the first half of the 2024/25 season, when he scored 15 goals in 23 appearances, assisting three.

The young winger has proven he can perform in League One before, and he will be hoping he can do it again for his new club.

At the start of the 2025/26 season, he was on loan at Sheffield United, featuring nine times in the EFL Championship. Now, he has joined the blue side of Sheffield, and will be hoping to secure promotion to the Championship at the first time of asking with his new club.

Sheffield Wednesday are one of the favourites to win the League One title next season, and they have brought in some super signings.

Barry could make his competitive debut for the Owls against Bolton Wanderers in the Carabao Cup. Last season, Louie Barry was sent off in one match against the Greater Manchester outfit and suffered a 4-1 defeat in the play-off final in the second.

On 8 August, he will be hoping he can put last season's miseries behind him and get a win against the EFL Championship side.
