Senegal and Morocco reach the Africa Cup of Nations final

The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final will see Senegal and Morocco face each other to lift the trophy on Sunday.

Senegal secured their spot in the final after beating Egypt in the semi-finals, as Sadio Mané netted in the 78th minute, which was the winning goal in the tie.

The 33-year-old scored his second goal of the tournament, with it proving to be one of the most important goals scored by his nation at this competition.

The 2021 winners will be looking to get their hands back on the trophy after they beat the 2021 runners-up to reach the final. Sadio Mané netted the winning penalty in the '21 final shootout, which was the first time the country lifted the trophy since 2015.

Senegal have won five of their six games played at the Africa Cup of Nations, drawing against D.R. Congo in the second group stage match.

Egypt and Nigeria will face each other on Saturday in the third-place play-off to see who picks up bronze at this competition.

The Africa Cup of Nations tournament is being hosted in Morocco, with the nation taking on Nigeria in the semi-finals.

The tie went to penalties after a goalless 120-minute match, and Al-Hilal's Bono was the hero for Morocco, saving two spot-kicks to help his team reach the final.

Morocco won the shootout 4-2 and booked their spot in the final of the competition, where they will face Senegal.

The host nation has won five of their six games at the tournament, and drew their second group stage game, like their opposition for the final. Morocco have only conceded one goal during the whole of the tournament, which came in a 1-1 draw against Mali.

Senegal have an impressive defensive record, conceding only two goals all tournament.

The final will take place on 18 January in Rabat, at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdallah.
