Manchester United and Leeds United met in Dublin at Croke Park last night. The Red Devils went into the game following a 1-1 draw with PSG, while the Whites went into the clash following a 2-0 win against RB Leipzig.

Although the game was a friendly, the Roses derby was a feisty affair between the two Uniteds. Michael Carrick's settled into the game well, and they were rewarded for their early strong spells in possession.

Bryan Mbeumo's brilliant run close to the by-line saw him skip past Jaka Bijol before crossing low towards Joshua Zirkzee. The pass went through the legs of Tarik Muharemović before landing at the striker's feet, who curled home past debutant James Trafford.

Man United were 1-0 up and deserved their lead. But Leeds United responded...

A strong, high press from Daniel Farke's side saw them rewarded for closing down Man United's play, as Dan James pipped youngster Tyler Fletcher of the ball.

Brenden Aaronson coolly slotted home for the Whites, bringing them level in the 29th minute.

Zirkzee saw a great chance saved by Trafford, while Bryan Mbeumo struck the bar as the Red Devils searched for more goals.

Leeds started the second 45 better of the two, having made numerous changes. Wilfried Gnonto was key to Farke's side going forward in the second half, and he was close to assisting on numerous occasions throughout the friendly.

On the hour mark, it was Carrick's United side that made multiple changes, and the Red Devils started to control the game.

In the latter stages, Bruno Fernandes scored, but his goal was ruled out for offside. At full-time, with the scoreline 1-1, penalties were to decide the winner.

After five spot-kicks each, the score was 4-4. Harry Wilson and Bruno Fernandes both had their penalties saved for their respective sides. James Justin stepped up next for Leeds United, but his shot went wide.

Morocco international Noussair Mazraoui calmly slotted home, giving Manchester United the win 5-4 on penalties.
