Karl Darlow joins Manchester United

Former Leeds United goalkeeper Karl Darlow has signed for Manchester United. The 35-year-old goalkeeper’s contract with the Whites expired at the end of last season, and he has decided to join their biggest rivals, Manchester United. The former Leeds United and Newcastle United keeper has penned a two-year deal, with the option for a further year.

The Wales international, aged 35, made 22 appearances last season in the Premier League, keeping five clean sheets.

Leeds United offered Darlow a new deal to tempt him to stay at the football club, but the shot stopper has decided to make the switch to Champions League side Manchester United.

While Man United have strengthened their goalkeeping position, they have also weakened one of their biggest rivals in the process. Leeds are now in the hunt for a new goalkeeper, having hoped Darlow would stay this summer.

Zion Suzuki, Nick Pope and James Trafford are some of the names linked with a potential move to Elland Road to replace Karl Darlow ahead of next season.

United have now completed two signings this summer, with the other done deal being Andrey Santos from Chelsea. The Red Devils' pursuit of Brazilian midfielder Ederson fell through after he completed a second medical following the World Cup, with United making the decision following the results of his tests.

United's recruitment push will continue this summer, with the midfield being targeted as an area for improvement. But they have brought in reinforcements between the goalposts by bringing a great back-up to the club to help support Senne Lammens.
