Al-Nassr went into matchday 34 of the Saudi Pro League top of the table by two points. Al-Hilal were second, and they were hoping to be crowned champions by winning away from home against Al-Fayha.

Last week, the top two faced each other, and the game ended dramatically. Al-Nassr were winning 1-0 in the 98th minute, but a mistake from their goalkeeper Bento gifted Al-Hilal an equaliser, to send the title race to the last day. The point denied Al-Nassr from being crowned champions against second in the league, and they had to wait nine days to play again in the league.

Al-Nassr had to win to secure the league title, unless Al-Hilal failed to win. Al-Hilal had to win to give themselves any chance of lifting the title, but they knew it was out of their control if they were to finish first.

Just four minutes into the last matchday, the first goal was scored in the title race. Al-Hilal's Sultan Mandash had scored his fourth goal of the season, and at the moment of his goal, Al-Hilal went top of the table.

Now, all of the pressure went onto Al-Nassr, who had to win to lift the league title. They suffered defeat last weekend in the AFC Champions League 2 final, and they were hoping to avoid heartbreak again.

Al-Nassr scored and took the lead against Damac in the 34th-minute, with Sadio Mané scoring a header to put his side 1-0 up. The goal was huge for the hosts, who were now top of the table.

Seven minutes into the second half, Kingsley Coman's low-driven shot beat Damac's goalkeeper, and Al-Nassr were two in front and were on their way to the title.

But, things were never going to be easy...

Damac scored a penalty in the 58th-minute to set up a potential nervy remainder of the game, but Cristiano Ronaldo settled any doubts regarding the title.

He scored a free-kick five minutes after Damac's goal, and scored his second of the game in the 81st-minute. The Portuguese star had secured the league title for Al-Nassr, who had won the Saudi Pro League for the first time in seven seasons.

Al-Hilal went invincible across the league season, but they finished two points behind Al-Nassr.

The historic moment for the Riyadh side saw them end the season by lifting the league trophy at home, while relegating Damac at the same time.

Jorge Jesus, Al-Nassr's manager, confirmed he will leave the club following the conclusion of the season, having helped the team win the league title.

The prospect of joining Al-Nassr will be very appealing to players from across the globe ahead of next season, with the club being the reigning champions and also competing in the AFC Champions League.

Al-Nassr will be hoping to defend their league title next season, but it will not be easy. Al-Hilal, Al-Ahli and other sides will be eyeing up the trophy, hoping to snatch the title off this season's champions.
