Attacking midfielder Josh Stokes has made three appearances for Bristol City since joining the club back in 2024 from Aldershot Town. All of Stokes' appearances have come in the EFL Cup, yet to make an appearance in the Championship.

During his time at Aldershot, the midfielder scored 18 goals and got 11 assists in 48 appearances.

Stokes' contract with Bristol City is valid until 2028, which he signed when he joined back in January 2024, penning a four-year deal.

Last season, the 21-year-old was playing for Cambridge United on loan for the whole season, where he got 12 goal involvements across 34 appearances. He scored eight goals in those games.

Josh Stokes scored a brace against Stockport last campaign, as he helped Cambridge win 2-0 at home against the Hatters, who finished in the play-offs. The U's were relegated from League One last season, finishing 23rd in the table.

Dave Challinor's Stockport County are currently sixth in League One, aiming to get promoted to the Championship this season.

Last campaign, the Hatters narrowly missed out on reaching the League One play-off final, losing on penalties against Leyton Orient.

The addition of Stokes will help the side bolster their attack, aiming to provide more service to the wingers and strikers.

Kyle Wootton is the current club top goalscorer for this season, with the striker scoring 10 goals in all competitions.
