Will Lankshear's start to the season with Middlesbrough has been exceptional.

The 21-year-old joined Middlesbrough in the summer on a permanent deal from Tottenham Hotspur for £10 million, plus £10m in add-ons.

The deal has been a huge success so far, with the young striker scoring seven goals across all competitions. In the EFL Championship, Lankshear has found the back of the net on five occasions, across five appearances. In the Carabao Cup, he has scored two goals in three appearances.

On his competitive debut for the club, he scored the only goal in the first-round Carabao Cup clash with Wrexham. A week later, he scored his side's two goals in a home 2-1 win against Lincoln City.

He and Southampton's Cyle Larin are the league's joint-top goalscorers, both with five.

If Middlesbrough are to be successful this year, Lankshear will be at the heart of their on-field performances. Boro are sixth in the table, after five games. But all of the teams above them in the league have played an additional match.

If the side from the North East win their game-in-hand, then they would go top of the table.

This weekend, Kim Hellberg's side face Norwich City at home, before hosting Millwall on Tuesday. Both Norwich and Millwall currently sit one point below Boro in the table, so the next two clashes are huge for Middlesbrough.
