Manchester United completed the signing of Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp during the summer window, with the Belgian coming into the club as the Red Devils' new number one. In a fee worth up to £21.8 million, the goalkeeper came into the club with pressure on his shoulders instantly to impress.
The goalkeeper position at Manchester United has been a position that has caused the club problems since the departure of David de Gea, and Lammens was viewed as the solution.
On his debut for the club, he kept his first clean sheet with United, in a 2-0 win at Old Trafford against Sunderland. The Red Devils also picked up their first clean sheet of the 2025-26 campaign against the newly-promoted side.
Since his debut, Lammens has gone from strength to strength and has settled in well at the Premier League giants. The 23-year-old played one of his best games for the club yesterday against Everton, as he kept a clean sheet against the Toffees and made multiple crucial saves to keep the hosts out.
The keeper won the Player of the Match award after a superb performance, where he looked calm during Everton's set-pieces and made numerous important saves. In the game, he prevented 0.86 XG, making four saves in the 90 minutes. With the pressure on him and his goal during Everton's set-pieces, particularly corners, he was quick off his line to get to the ball and made four punches. He was dominant in his box and has gained huge praise from former players and fans of Manchester United.
The Belgian has played 21 times in the league and has kept five clean sheets. They were against: Everton, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, Arsenal and Newcastle United.
With the impact that the former Royal Antwerp keeper has made on United, he will be viewed as one of the best signings the club has made in a long time. He could also be in the conversation for signing of the season, after hitting the ground running since moving from Belgium.
