Manchester City signed James Trafford last summer, with expectations of the goalkeeper being their number one going into the 2025-26 season. While Trafford featured in City's first three Premier League games, the signing of Italian keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma from Paris Saint-Germain changed Trafford's playing minutes dramatically.
Donnarumma was brought in from PSG, and he was made the club's new number one, making James Trafford their number two. The Italian has played 30 times across this season for the Cityzens, whereas Trafford has played 11 times.
Trafford was seemingly brought in as number one, but the arrival of Donnarumma changed Man City's plans. The former Burnley keeper has recently spoken about his situation at the club and how he did not expect to be number two, saying: "I didn't expect the situation to happen, but it happened, so just get on with it."
He further added, "I don't know what happens next season. I just know that I'll just take it a day at a time and try and improve."
With clubs such as Newcastle United, Leeds United and Aston Villa heavily linked with the 23-year-old keeper, do you think James Trafford will leave the club permanently in the summer, and if so, who do you think he will sign for?
