Wes Burns signs for League One side Leicester City

Two seasons ago, Leicester City were a Premier League club. Fast forward to today, they are preparing for an upcoming campaign in League One. The 2015/16 Premier League winners have suffered back-to-back relegations and are hoping to bounce back from last season's disappointing relegation.

Leicester City have been active in the summer window and have completed the signing of winger Wes Burns from Ipswich Town. The Wales international made 18 Premier League appearances for the Tractor Boys, but now he will prepare for life in the third tier at the King Power Stadium.

The Welshman, aged 31, has penned a three-year contract with the club, as they go into the League One campaign as one of the favourites to lift the league title.

Last season, Burns made 19 appearances for Ipswich Town, scoring two and assisting one. His three goal involvements came in the EFL Championship, as the Tractor Boys finished second in the league.

After joining the Foxes, Burns said, "Having spoken to the manager and various people I know here, there's a massive ambition to get the club back to where it once was, so I'm excited about the project."

Russell Martin's side face Northampton Town on 8 August in their first competitive game of the season, which is at the King Power Stadium. Wes Burns is one of the Foxes' new signings who could make their competitive debut against the League Two side.

A week later, Leicester travel to face Notts County in their opening League One fixture of the campaign. The side from Nottingham will be hoping to spoil the Foxes' opening day at Meadow Lane.
