Valérien Ismaël has left Blackburn Rovers by mutual consent

Valérien Ismaël has left his position as head coach of Blackburn Rovers, the club has confirmed. The Championship side has won only one of their last 15 matches in the league and FA Cup, with their only victory coming against Millwall. Across Blackburn's last 10 matches in the league, they have only picked up seven points.

Rovers currently sit in 22nd, three points below West Brom. Former West Ham United boss Slaven Bilić has been linked with a move to Blackburn Rovers to become the club's new head coach.

The side has suffered defeats in three of their last four league matches, and their most-recent defeat against Hull City was Ismaël's last as Blackburn boss. Up next for the side is a home match against bottom-of-the-table Sheffield Wednesday, who have only won one match all season. Norwich City then follows for Rovers, who travel to Carrow Road to face a side that has won four of their last five in all competitions. At Ewood Park, Blackburn Rovers have picked up only 11 points from 15 home league games. The club has the second-worst home record in the division, with only Sheffield Wednesday having a worse record.

The club's best run this season came between matchday 12 and matchday 14, with the team winning three matches in a row. Their victories come against Southampton, Leicester City and Bristol City. Without a win in over a month, the visit of Sheffield Wednesday will be a great opportunity for the side to get back to winning ways.

The Owls have not won a game since matchday six in the Championship, which was against Portsmouth. Wednesday are winless in their last 24, and have lost all of their last seven.
