Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the appointment of Italian head coach Roberto De Zerbi. The former Brighton and Marseille head coach has penned a five-year deal with last season's Europa League winners.
Spurs currently sit 17th in the Premier League table, one point above West Ham United, who are in the relegation zone. Spurs are winless this year in the league, with their last victory coming against Crystal Palace in December.
De Zerbi comes into the club with previous Premier League experience, managing Brighton. He took charge of Brighton for two seasons, managing 89 games. He left the Amex Stadium for France, where he took charge at Olympique Marseille. After one-and-a-half seasons with the French outfit, he was sacked.
The Italian head coach reportedly wanted to wait until the summer to take the job at first, but his decision has changed, and he will lead the London side in their remaining seven league games of the season.
Under interim manager Igor Tudor, the Whites picked up just one point across seven league games, with their only point coming away against Liverpool. Richarlison scored late on against the Reds at Anfield to rescue a point for his side on the road.
Spurs take on Sunderland away from home in their next match, as they look to secure three points for the first time this year. De Zerbi's first home game in charge of Spurs will come against his former club, Brighton. Spurs are currently bottom of the home form guide so far this season, picking up only 10 points from their 16 home games played.
De Zerbi needs results quickly, as Tottenham Hotspur face relegation to the Championship. 21 points are up for grabs between now and the end of the season. How many points do you think Spurs will pick up?
