Coventry City have won the EFL Championship title, and will go into the final day knowing they will be a Premier League club next season. One of Ipswich Town, Millwall and Middlesbrough will be promoted automatically on the last day and avoid the play-offs.
Ipswich Town are currently second and are in pole position for automatic promotion. Millwall are third, one point behind Ipswich, and Middlesbrough are in fourth, two points off second-place.
Millwall, Middlesbrough, Southampton and Wrexham are all in the play-offs right now, and Wrexham are the only team that could drop out on the final day. Both Hull City and Derby County are able to catch the Welsh side and leapfrog them, and potentially reach the play-offs.
The standout fixtures on matchday 46 are:
Ipswich Town vs QPR
Millwall vs Oxford United
Wrexham vs Middlesbrough
Hull City vs Norwich City
Derby County vs Sheffield United
One eye-catching fixture from those games is sixth-place Wrexham against fourth-place Middlesbrough. Both teams need a win going into the final day, and they could end up facing each other in the play-offs, depending on results elsewhere.
Middlesbrough go into the game following an impressive 5-1 win against Watford, while Wrexham suffered a 3-1 away loss against champions Coventry City.
Wrexham will be hoping to become the first team to secure four straight promotions from non-league up to the Premier League. They finished second in League One last season, behind Birmingham City, and second in League Two behind Stockport County. When they were in the National League in 2022-23, they were the league's champions with 111 points.
The most in-form team, who can still be promoted this season, right now is Southampton. The side has picked up 24 points from a possible 30 from their last 10 games, and they will be hoping to continue their great form going into the play-offs.
On the flip side, Hull City, who are winless in their last six, are outside of the play-offs on goal difference. They are level on points with Wrexham, but they have a worse goal difference by one.
Who do you think will be promoted to the Premier League alongside Coventry City?
