Sandro Tonali's future with Newcastle United has been questioned over recent weeks, with multiple clubs holding interest in the midfielder. Tonali, aged 25, has recently seen his name linked with Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United and multiple clubs outside of the Premier League.

Reports over the past 24-48 hours have reported that Manchester United's number one midfield target is the Magpies defensive midfielder, who signed for Newcastle United from AC Milan in 2023.

Tonali has been an important player for Newcastle since joining from AC Milan, and he has often found himself partnering Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton in the middle of the park for the Magpies.

He was a part of the squad that won Newcastle their first major trophy in 60 years, as they defeated Liverpool in last season's Carabao Cup final at Wembley. The North East side won 2-1 in the final, with Alexander Isak and Dan Burn scoring the goals.

The price tag for Tonali will be high, looking around £60 million upwards, due to his quality both on and off the ball. Manchester United have been linked the strongest with the Italian, and the Red Devils will no doubt strengthen in the middle of the park this summer.

With Casemiro leaving at the end of the season, along with Manuel Ugarte being heavily linked with a departure, Man United are looking to improve in the midfield spot.

Elliott Anderson, Adam Wharton and Carlos Baleba have also been linked with moves to Old Trafford, but Tonali seems to be ahead of them all.

Links were putting Tonali and Arsenal together during January, but no move materialised in the latter stages of the window.

Murmours have also been made regarding Tonali wanting to return to Italy, but it is whether or not a team in the Serie A are willing to pay a big transfer fee for the former AC Milan midfielder.

Eddie Howe has spoken publicly regarding PSR issues for the club and how it has restricted the Magpies' business across windows, despite selling Isak for over £100 million last summer.

While the departure of Tonali would be a huge blow for the side, they would financially be able to spend significantly in the summer if he was to leave. However, if there is no clear replacement for the Italian, then the Magpies will feel no pressure to let him leave.
