31-year-old Vedat Muriqi has been in great form for his club this season, scoring 14 goals in 19 La Liga matches. The Kosovo international has scored five goals in his last three games, netting a hat-trick in his side's last game versus Athletic Club. Mallorca were 3-2 winners, picking up three points at home.
Muriqi has been at the heart of Mallorca's goals in La Liga this campaign, scoring 14 of their 24 in the league. He stood out in the Pirates' most recent match, which saw them pick up three points against Athletic Club, which ended a four-game run without a win.
Muriqi joined Mallorca in 2022 from Serie A side Lazio. The fee was €8 million, which seems like a bargain considering the striker has scored 49 goals since joining. The forward has scored in three consecutive games for Mallorca, as the side take on Atlético Madrid in their next game, which is away from home.
Mallorca have difficult fixtures coming up in February, with the side taking on Sevilla, Barcelona, Real Betis and Celta Vigo during the month.
In the Pirates' next six matches, they take on five teams that are ninth or higher in La Liga. Mallorca currently sit 15th in the table, two points above the relegation zone. Although they are close to the relegation zone, they are only three points away from Elche, who are eighth.
With La Liga being close and competitive, it sets up an exciting second half of the season.
Mallorca travel to the Wanda Metropolitano at the weekend, looking to take three points from Diego Simeone's side. When the two teams met earlier in the season, the result was 1-1. Vedat Muriqi scored his team's goal, which came in the 85th minute.
He also scored at the Santiago Bernabeu in the third game of the La Liga season for his team, but Mallorca suffered a 2-1 defeat on the road.
The 31-year-old is contracted to RCD Mallorca until June 2029, but do you think any clubs will look at the forward in the summer if his great form continues?
