Paris Saint-Germain win the Trophée des Champions in dramatic style vs Marseille

Paris Saint-Germain took on Olympique Marseille in the 2026 Tropheé des Champions final on Thursday, as both sides looked to lift their first trophy of the year.
The Parisians took the lead through Ousmane Dembélé after just 13 minutes, with Vitinha getting the assist for the opening goal. PSG won six trophies last year and were looking to get their first of the year on Thursday. With 15 minutes left in the game, Mason Greenwood converted from the penalty spot for Roberto De Zerbi's side, bringing the score level.
With three minutes left, Marseille took the lead through an own goal. PSG's William Pacho put the ball in the back of his own net, which put Marseille in the lead late on. With minutes left in the game, Les Phocéens were on target to win their first trophy since 2012.
However, Gonçalo Ramos, deep into added time, found an equaliser for PSG to send the final to penalties. The Portuguese striker rescued a late goal for the Parisians, meaning the game was to be decided by spot-kicks.
Ramos stepped up to take the first penalty of the shootout, and he converted, putting his side in the lead.
Matt O'Riley took the first penalty for Marseille, but his strike was saved by Lucas Chevalier.
Vitinha slotted home for the Parisians, before Hamed Traore saw his spot kick saved by Chevalier, who had given his team a huge chance of winning the final.
Nuno Mendes made no mistake from 12 yards out, putting pressure on Michael Murillo, who had to score to keep Marseille in the game. He did, meaning Desire Doue could win the shootout for his team.
The 20-year-old stepped up and made no mistake from his penalty, winning PSG the Trophée des Champions title for 2026. Paris Saint-Germain have won all of the last four finals in the competition, and have won 12 of the last 13 Tropheé des Champions finals.
