Morecambe FC have officially announced the appointment of manager Jim Bentley, following the departure of Ashvir Singh Johal.
The Shrimps are currently in the relegation zone in the National League, sitting 23rd after 28 matches. The side have 21 points and are seven points behind Sutton United, who are the closest side to Morecambe who are outside of the relegation zone.
Only Gateshead are below the Shrimps in the table, with the North East side two points below Morecambe.
The side sitting second from bottom are winless in their last six across all competitions, and have had to change managers to try and help the club avoid relegation to the sixth-tier of English Football.
Morecambe were on the verge of liquidation in the summer, but they were taken over by Panjab Warriors, who saved the club. The owners had to completely rebuild the club, putting together a squad of players, a managerial team, and fixing many more problems with the club from last season.
However, things on the pitch this campaign have been a struggle, and the team could suffer their third relegation in three years.
This season in the league, Morecambe have won only five of their 28 games, with their last league victory coming six matches ago against Brackley Town.
49-year-old Jim Bentley returns to Morecambe FC as their manager, with his previous time as boss at the Shrimps coming between 2012 and 2019. The experienced manager spent seven years in the dugout with Morecambe, after also spending a large amount of his playing career with the club.
Do you think Morecambe will avoid relegation to the National League North this season?
