Manchester United's form under Michael Carrick has been the best out of all 20 Premier League teams since the interim boss took over in January. United have turned their season around and have confirmed Champions League football under their former midfielder, who is leading the way to take the job on permanently.
Manchester United have lost just two games under Michael Carrick, drawing three and winning 10. The Red Devils currently sit third in the Premier League table, and have beaten the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Chelsea under Carrick's interim reign.
Reports have stated that the interim manager is set to be offered the role permanently, with a two-year deal seemingly set to be offered to him after impressing since January.
United were out of all cup competitions when Carrick took over, and he has taken the club from strength to strength.
Now, with Champions League football confirmed and just one point from their last two games needed to secure third, United have had a strong season.
From 15th last season to third this campaign, the progression in the league is clear to see. But the big question will be how they cope with multiple competitions from next season, with one of those being the UEFA Champions League.
With a World Cup coming up, selecting managerial candidates has become more difficult for the football club. Plus, Carrick has been nothing short of impressive since returning to Old Trafford and has earned the job permanently.
If he is to be offered the job, his attention will turn to summer targets and where the football club can look to strengthen, ahead of a crucial season next time out.
Midfield is set to be the team's priority, with the likes of Sandro Tonali, Carlos Baleba, Ederson, Adam Wharton and Aurelien Tchouameni on the club's radar.
Do you think Michael Carrick will be given the job permanently?
