Manchester United handed major transfer boost in pursuit of left-back

One Manchester United target has been left out of his side's opening match squad.
Manchester United are on the verge of signing defensive midfielder Carlos Baleba from Brighton, in a deal that could reach £70m.
United have signed three midfielders this summer, and their business in the middle of the park seems to be done.
But the Red Devils have been linked with numerous left-backs over recent weeks.
One of those is Barcelona's Alejandro Balde, who has been left out of the club's opening matchday squad for the game against Elche this evening.
Reports have stated that the left-back has decided to leave the Camp Nou this summer, with United one of the suitors for the defender. The absence of the full-back in his team's squad this evening further strengthens those rumours.
Barcelona are willing to entertain a transfer for the 22-year-old if a suitable offer arrives. If Michael Carrick's side feel they can sign the defender, they could make a tempting offer to the La Liga champions to get a move completed.
With UEFA Champions League football returning to Old Trafford this season, the Red Devils will want to have a strong enough squad to compete on all fronts. Bringing in Balde, who has played in the competition before, would be a brilliant addition to the side.
