Leeds United secured promotion to the Premier League last season, after lifting the EFL Championship title on the final day. Their dramatic 2-1 win against Plymouth Argyle, which saw the winning goal scored in the 91st minute, crowned Leeds as league champions on goal difference.
Lots of football fans expected Leeds to get relegated in their first season back in the Premier League, but the Whites have avoided the drop and have done so with multiple games remaining.
Daniel Farke’s side has brought in numerous players over recent seasons, and those transfers have proven to be critical in the club’s success over the last two campaigns.
Leeds have been clever with their business, and they identified great players to step into the side and make sure the team progressed when the club stepped up to the top-flight.
Now, following Leeds United’s great league season, multiple clubs in the Premier League and across Europe hold interest in some of their players.
Standout transfers over recent seasons:
Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Free)
Anton Stach (£17 million)
Ethan Ampadu (£7 million)
Ao Tanaka (£3 million)
Noah Okafor (£18 million)
Dominic Calvert-Lewin was brought in on a free in the summer, and his Premier League experience was crucial to the side this campaign. He has netted 14 league goals so far this season, and has proven why he is a constant threat in front of goal.
Ethan Ampadu has been a standout performer for the club, proving his quality both in midfield and in defence. The club captain has gained interest from elsewhere after being an ever-present player for the Yorkshire outfit.
The biggest challenge Leeds United will face this summer is ensuring they hold onto key personnel, with interest no doubt present for some players. If Leeds United can keep their core squad, there is no reason why they will be looking up at the table going into the 2026/27 season.
Daniel Farke's job was under threat towards the end of 2025, but his side put a great run of form together going into the new year, which was pivotal in their fight for survival. Farke wants to help Leeds take the next step and push higher up the league, and based on this season, the club can do that if they have a strong summer.
The Whites currently sit 14th in the table, but they could finish as high as 11th this season. This campaign has proven Leeds can be a competitive team in the Premier League, and they clearly have a strong squad, shown in multiple huge games this season. If Leeds are successful in the upcoming window, then they could potentially propel themselves up the table for next season.
