Arsenal faced Everton on Saturday at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners were looking to pick up three points before Manchester City's clash away against West Ham United later that evening.
Mikel Arteta made two tactical substitutions in the 74th minute, with the game at 0-0, where he brought on Max Dowman and Piero Hincapie. In the 89th minute, the two substitutes played a crucial part in the lead-up to Viktor Gyökeres' opening goal.
16-year-old Dowman crossed the ball into Everton's box, and Jordan Pickford came to claim the ball but missed, which saw the cross hit Hincapie, bouncing to Gyökeres who scored in an open goal. The Swedish striker had scored his 11th league goal of the campaign.
The Gunners had scored late and had seemingly won the match against the Toffees just before the 90th minute. But things got even better for Arteta's team. Max Dowman latched onto a header cleared by Gabriel Martinelli before he took the ball past two Everton defenders, scoring in an open goal in the 97th minute.
The Gunners had left it late, but they were 2-0 winners at home against Everton, thanks to goals from Gyökeres and Dowman. The teenager made history as he became the youngest-ever Premier League goalscorer, with his goal versus the Toffees.
The teen played a huge part in the Gunners' win, and things were made even better later that evening. West Ham United picked up a big point in their bid for survival against Manchester City, who are now nine points behind Arsenal.
Pep Guardiola's team do have a game-in-hand, but the league title is firmly in Arsenal's hands, as they look to lift their first Premier League title since the 2003-04 season.
