Flamengo manager Filipe Luís extends his contract with the club

Former Chelsea and Atlético Madrid left-back Filipe Luís won the Copa Libertadores with Flamengo on November 11th, which was the third time the club had lifted the trophy in the last six seasons.
The side were then crowned the champions of Brazil, by winning the Serie A Betano title, before suffering defeat in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup final vs PSG on penalties.
Flamengo have become a dominant side in world football and have been crowned champions of South America, while having a young manager who has had so much glory during his short career in the dugout.
Luís was appointed in September 2024 as Flamengo's first-team manager, and since his appointment, the club have won a staggering seven trophies.
Following the end of the season for Flamengo, there was a huge amount of talk around Filipe Luís' future with the club. With the Brazilian yet to sign a contract with the side, questions were raised about whether he would depart the team or not.
While there was uncertainty surrounding the managerial role at Flamengo, the former defender penned a new deal to remain with the club as manager. His new contract is valid until 2027, and the 40-year-old will continue to manage in Brazil.
At Flamengo, Luís has won 57 of his 88 matches with the club's first team as their boss, highlighting their dominance with the 40-year-old at the helm.
