Al-Nassr's Cristiano Ronaldo has returned to Madrid, after picking up a hamstring injuyr. The 41-year-old will complete his recovery in Spain's capital, Al-Nassr boss Jorge Jesus has confirmed.
The injury is believed to be more serious than originally thought, which has led to the Portuguese star leaving Saudi Arabia and returning to Madrid for his recovery. Jorge Jesus said,
"In the last match, the player [Cristiano Ronaldo] left while complaining of a muscle injury. After medical examinations, it became clear that the injury was more serious than expected and requires rest and recovery."
The forward has scored 22 goals in 26 appearances this season for his club and has been crucial for Al-Nassr. CR7 is currently third in the Saudi Pro League golden boot race after netting 21 goals, two goals behind Ivan Toney, who is currently first. Ronaldo has scored five in his last five, so other players will have to step up and fill the goal void, which will be caused by Ronaldo's absence.
The absence of the 41-year-old is unknown, and Al-Nassr will be hoping he returns to action quickly. The side is currently top of the Saudi Pro League by two points, ahead of Al-Ahli.
Up next for Al-Nassr is Neom SC, who are eighth in the table. Al-Nassr have won all of their last 12 games in all competitions, and have hit a good run of form.
There is an upcoming international break, which is in two games' time for Al-Nassr. They will be hoping to have their superstar back after the international matches, which are taking place at the end of March.
