Coventry City confirm promotion to the Premier League

Frank Lampard's Coventry City have confirmed their promotion to the Premier League following the Sky Blues' 1-1 draw against Blackburn Rovers this evening.

Coventry have been extremely impressive this season, and are worthy of promotion to the top flight. They have won 23 league games this campaign, as they now look to finish top of the table.

Kieran McKenna's team host fifth-place Middlesbrough on Sunday, with both teams chasing three points. The Tractor Boys are second and have one game in hand over teams below them in the league.

Second to fifth are separated by just three points, going into the remaining matches. With one automatic spot gone, there is now one remaining.

The Sky Blues face Portsmouth, Wrexham and Watford in their three remaining league fixtures of the season, and they will be looking to leave the Championship in style. The club can reach 95 points if they win their remaining three fixtures, with two of those being at home.

Coventry have played 21 home matches this season, and they have picked up 49 points across those fixtures. On the road, they have won 37 points from 22 matches played. Lampard's team currently have the best home and the best away record in the division.

The most important target for the Sky Blues has been hit, but they will want to depart from the Championship with the league title.
