Conor Gallagher completes his transfer to Tottenham Hotspur

Conor Gallagher has completed a £34m (€40m) move from Atlético Madrid to Tottenham Hotspur. The former Chelsea man joined Atléti from the Blues back in 2024, where he made 77 appearances for the club, scoring seven and assisting seven.

Gallagher returns to the Premier League by signing for Spurs, who have had to be active in the window following the injury to Rodrigo Bentancur. Thomas Frank's side are sat 14th in the table, on 27 points. However, they are only six points off fifth-place Brentford.

Spurs' new signing has played 136 times in his career in the Premier League, for Chelsea, West Brom and Crystal Palace. In those games, he picked up 31 goal involvements, scoring 18 and assisting 13.

Gallagher this season has played 27 matches across all competitions for Atlético Madrid, scoring three goals and getting one assist. He played 45 minutes against Real Madrid in the Supercopa de España semi-final, where Xabi Alonso's side were 2-1 winners.

The 25-year-old has frequently played in centre midfield, but he has played in attacking midfield and defensive midfield this season, when needed to. The ability to play in three different positions in the middle of the park will be hugely helpful for Frank.

Spurs take on West Ham this weekend in the Premier League, which is then followed by a Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund. Burnley are then the Lilywhites' opponent in the league after their match at home against BVB.
