Barnsley's Reyes Cleary has become a star in League One following a brilliant season so far

Barnsley forward Reyes Cleary joined the club from West Brom on a permanent transfer in the summer. The 21-year-old has scored six goals and has assisted 10 so far in League One, featuring in 25 league games.

The 21-year-old has scored one and has assisted two in his last two appearances, as the club looks to cover the permanent departure of prolific goalscorer Davis Keillor-Dunn. The departure of Keillor-Dunn has created a big hole for goals being scored and assisted in the team, which means that the Tykes need to find an alternative source.

Cleary seems to be the answer so far, having the most goal involvements at the club this campaign.

To describe his profile, Cleary is a right‑footed attacker who can operate across the front line in multiple positions, but has been used mainly on the left, where his pace, strength and direct running makes him a constant threat to opposition defences when found in attacking spaces. His output is strong for his age, with 6 goals and 10 assists from 1,618 League One minutes in 2025/26, putting him among the more productive wide forwards in the division for both scoring and assisting.

Cleary has already produced standout moments, most notably a superb 60‑yard screamer in a 2–2 draw at Valley Parade vs Bradford City. The former West Brom player's eye-catching start to the season saw him collect the EFL Young Player of the Month award for November 2025.

Barnsley currently sit 13th in League One, and won their most recent game 2-1 against Peterborough United. Reyes clearly scored the winner for his side on Tuesday night, and the Yorkshire outfit currently sit on 41 points.
