Aston Villa currently have three midfielders out due to injury. The trio are John McGinn, Youri Tielemans and Boubacar Kamara. The three midfielders are all set to miss a period of time away from the pitch, which is a huge blow for the Villains.

Boubacar Kamara is set to miss the rest of the season due to a knee injury, with the Villains set to be without one of their most important players for the remainder of this campaign.

John McGinn has also been ruled out of action for six weeks after picking up a knee injury during Villa's 1-0 home loss against Everton on 18 January. The Scotland international could return in time for Villa's league games against Chelsea at home and Manchester United away in early March.

Youri Tielemans was substituted off during Unai Emery's side's 2-0 away win against Newcastle United last time out, coming off with 15 minutes left of the game. The Belgian midfielder has suffered an ankle injury and is set to be sidelined for eight weeks.

Following the injury news, Aston Villa have been heavily linked with multiple midfielders this January transfer window. Conor Gallagher was linked with the club before completing a move to Tottenham Hotspur, and have now been linked to former midfielder Douglas Luiz.

The Brazilian midfielder left the club in 2024 for Italian side Juventus and has spent this season on loan at Nottingham Forest. The 27-year-old has played 14 games this season for Forest, picking up one assist.

Another name linked with the Villains is former Chelsea midfielder and current AC Milan player Ruben Loftus-Cheek. The 30-year-old has featured in all of AC Milan's last 16 matches, which includes a mix of starts and substitute appearances.

With five days left of the window, do you think Aston Villa will recruit a midfielder?
