Aston Villa took on Elche in a friendly match earlier today, which saw players not on international duty feature against the La Liga outfit. The most important thing from the game was that no players got injured, but unfortunately, Villa saw a player leave the pitch with his arm in a sling.

Jadon Sancho is the player who has picked up an injury for the Villains, with him leaving the field of play visibly in pain, resulting in his arm being in a sling. He landed uncomfortably during the match, and the injury could put him out for multiple weeks, during the Premier League run-in.

Villa took the lead in the game after 21 minutes through Pau Torres. The 29-year-old played the full pre-season friendly against the Spanish outfit. 20 minutes on from the opening goal, Sancho was substituted off due to injury, which is a big blow for the Villains. The injury will be frustrating for the side, with it coming in a non-competitive match as well. Ollie Watkins came on for the injured loanee.

Just before half-time, former Inter Miami midfielder Dederico Solari equalised for Elche, seeing the scoreline at 1-1 at half-time.

In the second half, Villa made multiple substitutions, bringing off regular first-team players for players who have often featured for the academy. Unai Emery would have seen Sancho get injured and made sure he protected his first-choice players, ahead of their Europa League push and top-four push.

Deep into added-time, Elche added salt into the wound of Aston Villa, as Alvaro Rodriguez scored a 94th-minute winner for the Spanish outfit.

The biggest concern from today's game for Villa will not be the result, but it will be the injury to Jadon Sancho. The winger has picked up two assists in his last two matches for the Villains, who are searching for silverware in the Europa League this campaign.
