Arsenal win the Community Shield in style

Premier League champions Arsenal took on FA Cup winners Manchester City in Cardiff to win the FA Community Shield.

Enzo Maresca was taking charge of his first competitive game as Man City boss, while Mikel Arteta was looking to win the Community Shield for the third time as Arsenal manager.

The Premier League champions had a dream start, scoring after 24 seconds. Myles Lewis-Skelly played a spectacular pass through to Riccardo Calafiori, and the Italian drilled his shot low into the left corner.

It was a worrying start for Maresca and Man City, trailing in the first minute, but Arteta and Arsenal were delighted with the start.

In the 28th minute, things got even better for the Gunners, as Kai Havertz's headed home, doubling his side's advantage. A pinpoint cross from new signing Christopher Tzolis found the German, who is up and running for the season.

Huge question marks will be placed over goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, and whether he should have done better with the goal.

Arsenal led at half-time 2-0, and they were in full control of the game.

Martin Ødegaard sealed the win for Arsenal at the Principality Stadium, as he faked Donnarumma with a shot before rolling his strike home. The score was 3-0 after 48 minutes, and Arsenal were in dreamland.

From then onwards, Arsenal controlled the game, limiting Man City to only a few chances. It was a frustrating afternoon for the Cityzens, but a rather enjoyable one for the Gunners.

The full-time score was 3-0, and it will be a game that Maresca's learn a lot from. The Premier League champions begin their title defence on Friday against Frank Lampard's Coventry City, while Man City play at home against Bournemouth next Sunday.
