Arsenal are Premier League champions for the first time in 22 years

Arsenal faced Burnley on Monday evening, with the Gunners hoping to win the game and then give themselves a chance of being crowned champions less than 24 hours later. They had to defeat an already-relegated side and hope that Manchester City dropped points away against Bournemouth one day later.
Arsenal went into the game full of confidence at the Emirates Stadium, and the feeling was a party-like atmosphere in the ground. Arsenal fans knew that they had the opportunity to be potential champions going into the final day of the seaosn, and excitement was building.
The Gunners were growing in confidence in the clash, and their strength from set-pieces was shown once again. An inswinging corner from Bukayo Saka found the head of Kai Havertz, who beat Burnley goalkeeper Max Weiss, and put his side 1-0 up in the 37th minute.
Burnley pushed forward to get an equaliser late on in the game, but Arsenal's resilient defence held onto the clean sheet, and three points were secured at the Emirates Stadium by Mikel Arteta's side.
Now, the Gunners were hoping AFC Bournemouth could get a result against Manchester City, for Arteta's side to be crowned champions for the first time since the 2003/04 season.
Bournemouth knew one point would secure European football for the first time in their history, while City had to win to take the title race to the final day. During Arsenal's match, news broke that Pep Guardiola will leave Manchester City at the end of the season, which could have had an impact on the City squad going into the match.
Evanilson had a great chance to score for the Cherries, but his close-range shot into an open goal bounced over the net. It was early warning signs for City, against a team who were unbeaten in 16 going into the game.
In the 39th-minute, Eli Kroupi opened the scoring for the Cherries, after converting from a low cross delivered by Adrien Truffert. It was a huge goal for Bournemouth, Man City and Arsenal, and the Cherries led going into the second half. Arsenal knew they were 45 minutes from being champions, while City had to find two goals in that time to keep the title alive.
In the 90th minute, the scoreline was still 1-0. The fourth official held up six added minutes, and it was now or never for the Cityzens.
Erling Haaland pulled one back for City in the 95th minute, but it was too little too late, and the full-time whistle was blown shortly after. Arsenal were crowned champions of the Premier League for the first time in 22 years, with City finishing second. AFC Bournemouth had booked their spot in European football for the first time in their history, following the crucial point.
Arsenal players were celebrating at their training ground with one another, while fans gathered outside the Emirates Stadium to celebrate with one another. Bukayo Saka, Jurrien Timber, Declan Rice and Eberechi Eze were all spotted outside the Emirates Stadium at 5AM celebrating with fans, following their monumental achievement.
Mikel Arteta's team will travel to Selhurst Park as Premier League champions, and they know the pressure is off them on Sunday. They will then have six days to prepare for their UEFA Champions League final, which is against Paris Saint-Germain.
