Ange Postecoglou delivers brutal truth about Tottenham Hotspur

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou was sacked at the end of last season by the club after ending their 17-year trophy drought. He managed Spurs to a 1-0 Europa League final win against Manchester United in Bilbao. 16 days on from glory in Spain, Postecoglou was relieved of his duties with the North London club.

Spurs decided to part ways with the Australian manager and replaced him with Thomas Frank, who has also been sacked. The club are struggling in the league and find themselves only four points above the relegation zone.

Postecoglou has recently spoken on 'The Overlap' about his time at Spurs, and some of his comments have caused concern in the club's fanbase. One alarming comment made by the manager was when he said, "Tottenham Hotspur are not a big club." He made these comments regarding their transfer activity when they signed Dominic Solanke and three teenagers after finishing fifth in the league table.

The manager was looking at targets such as Marc Guéhi, Bryan Mbeumo, Pedro Neto and Antoine Semenyo, but the club failed to bring in players who Postecoglou wanted.

At the time of the former Celtic manager's sacking, he had the second-lowest league percentage win rate, but his poor run domestically was overlooked by his team's strong European performances.

The same can be said for this season as well, as Spurs finished fourth in the Champions League table and have automatically reached the round of 16. In the European competition, Spurs have won five of their eight matches played this season. They have only won two more matches in the Premier League in comparison, despite playing 18 matches more in the league.
