On Saturday, Liverpool took on Tottenham Hotspur in London, with the defending Premier League champions winning the match 2-1. Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak were on the scoresheet for Arne Slot's side, while Richarlison scored for the hosts.

But after Isak scored, he was seen in huge amounts of pain, requiring him to be substituted off.

Liverpool have confirmed that the Swedish striker underwent surgery on Monday, which is set to keep the forward out of action for several months. The 26-year-old has an ankle injury and a fractured fibula, the club have confirmed.

Although the former Newcastle United man is set to be sidelined for a lengthy period of time, he is expected to play again for the Reds this season.

With the January transfer window approaching in the coming weeks, Liverpool could look to be active to replace the absence of their £125 million forward.

Antoine Semenyo is a player who has a release clause active in the first 10 days of January, with the price being £65 million. Liverpool enquired about the winger in November, but have not made a follow-up since their opening approach. Both Manchester City and Manchester United hold an interest in the Bournemouth winger, who has been heavily linked with a move away from the Vitality Stadium next month.

Isak did not have a pre-season at the start of the campaign due to injury, and he had a difficult start to life in Merseyside when he first joined Arne Slot's side. He scored his first goal in his third game, which was against Southampton in the EFL Cup.

He had to wait a long time for his first Premier League goal for Liverpool, which came two months after he made his debut for the club.

Do you think Isak will be a big miss for Liverpool, and do you think the Reds will look to bring in a forward in January due to his absence?
