Ademola Lookman made five appearances for Nigeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, scoring three and assisting four.

He featured in all but one of Nigeria's games at AFCON, helping his team to four wins.

Nigeria began their AFCON tournament with a 2-1 win against Tanzania, with Lookman scoring the winning goal of the match. In the Super Eagles' second game, they won 3-2 against Tunisia, and Lookman scored and got two assists.

The third and final group stage game for Nigeria saw the 28-year-old watch the match from the bench, as he was an unused substitute. The team had already qualified for the knockouts, and they did not want to risk injury to key players, with Lookman being one of those.

The Atalanta star returned to the starting 11 for Nigeria's match against Mozambique in the knockouts. Lookman opened the scoring as Nigeria were 4-0 winners to reach the quarter-finals.

Algeria was the Super Eagles' opponents, and Nigeria were victorious, winning 2-0. Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams were on the scoresheet.

The final four teams left in the competition were Morocco, Nigeria, Egypt and Senegal. Nigeria took on the tournament hosts Morocco, who had only conceded one goal in the tournament, before going into the semi-finals.

Nigeria suffered defeat on penalties in the semi-finals against Morocco, bringing their AFCON journey to an end. Ademola Lookman did not step up to take a penalty, and the Super Eagles lost 4-2.

There is still one more game for Nigeria at the tournament, which is against Egypt in the third-place decider. The Super Eagles will be looking to secure bronze at the 2025 AFCON competition.
