Michael Carrick won his first game back as Manchester United's interim boss last week against Manchester City 2-0. It was an electric performance from the Red Devils, who scored two second-half goals to win against Pep Guardiola's side.
After an impressive win at home last week, United travelled to Arsenal, who sit top of the Premier League. Arsenal were looking to win to move seven points clear in first, while the Red Devils were looking to get three points to move fourth.
Arsenal started the better of the two teams and opened the scoring first. Lisandro Martínez's misskick saw the ball hit his foot and go past Senne Lammens, giving the Gunners a 1-0 lead at home.
Less than 10 minutes later, Martin Zubimendi gave Bryan Mbeumo a gift by playing a poor pass into the Man United forward, who rounded David Raya before slotting home. The Cameroon international brought his side back on level terms and scored his second goal in two games.
With the game level at half-time, the next 45 minutes were crucial for both sides.
Less than five minutes into the second-half, Patrick Dorgu unleashed a stunning effort into the top left corner, to give United the lead. It was a perfect strike from Dorgu, who has flourished in his more attacking role recently.
As the clock ticked down, Arsenal were facing their first loss at home of the season. But, like on so many other occasions, a set-piece proved to be crucial for Arsenal. A goalmouth scramble saw Mikel Merino poke home for the hosts, who were level in the 84th minute. There was still time left for someone to grab a winner, but who was going to score the decisive goal if there was to be one?
Up stepped Matheus Cunha, who curled home from range to give Manchester United their third goal of the game, and netted the most important goal of the game. United had secured a big win not just for themselves, but also for title-chasers Man City and Aston Villa.
The Red Devils are now fourth in the league after their win, while Arsenal are four points clear of second-place Manchester City.
Michael Carrick has secured back-to-back wins since returning to United, beating both first and second in the league in the space of eight days.
Up next for his team is a home game against Fulham, who are seventh in the table. United will be looking for their third consecutive win in the league next Sunday, against Marco Silva's side.
