The Leicester City loanee currently shining in non-league

Leicester City loanee Chris Popov is currently playing for National League side Morecambe FC. The Shrimps were on the verge of liquidation in the summer, and they had to completely rebuild their playing squad, along with rebuilding other parts of the football club.

The side currently find themselves in the National League relegation zone, in 22nd. The Northern outfit has picked up two wins from their last four, losing just one of those clashes. One result was an action-packed 4-4 draw against Gateshead, who are currently one spot below the Shrimps in the table.

One standout player for Morecambe this season has been Chris Popov. The Welsh forward made his debut for the National League side on 21 January, and he has frequently found the back of the net.

In his last four games, he has netted five goals, helping the Shrimps pick up valuable points in their bid to survive another relegation.

His last three goals alone have helped give his side seven points and see them climb towards safety in the league.

Popov, aged 21, is on loan until the end of the season and has impressed so far. The forward from Leicester City could find himself playing at a higher level next season, if his impressive form continues until the end of the campaign.

Brackley Town are currently 20th in the table, and stand outside of the relegation zone. The gap between Brackley and Morecambe is only six points, but Morecambe have played two more league games.

The Shrimps face three sides who are 14th or below in their next three games, and they are up against Braintree Town on 14 March. Braintree find themselves one spot above Morecambe in the National League table, with three points separating the two teams.

Popov will be looking to fire in goals against the side that is one spot above Morecambe in the league when they face them in less than two weeks.
