It was Derby Day at Damson Park and Solihull Moors delivered a late Christmas present to their fans today, as they thumped Tamworth 7-1 at home in the National League.

Despite the hosts taking the lead 11 minutes in, Tamworth levelled six minutes later.

But from the 29th minute onwards, the Moors took the lead and cruised to three points.

Joe Sbarra scored a hat-trick for Solihull, who found themselves 4-1 up at the half-time interval.

At full-time, the Moors were up to 10th in the table, four points away from the play-offs. Southend United are seventh with 38 points, four in front of Solihull Moors, and occupy the last play-off spot.

Despite Sbarra scoring a hat-trick today, Jacob Wakeling is the club's top goalscorer this campaign in the league with seven goals from 14 appearances.

Chris Millington's team are unbeaten in 90 minutes in their last six games, with their last defeat coming against Halifax Town on November 22nd.

The next fixture for Solihull Moors is an away match against Boreham Wood in the league. The Wood are two points behind Rochdale, who are top of the table on 52 points.

Post-match, Tamworth boss Andy Peaks said, "I feel sorry for the fans that come today and I said to the lads in there [changing room], they should be looking at reimbursing fans for their travels. I know it's not far, but that was not a performance I want to put my name to."

Tamworth have the second-worst form in the National League over the last five matches, with the side picking up three points from a possible 15.
