Preston North End sign Alfie Devine for club-record fee

Preston North End have completed the signing of Alfie Devine from Tottenham Hotspur for a club-record fee. Devine had a remarkable campaign on loan with Preston, scoring eight goals in 45 appearances.
After completing the move, Devine said: "From the end of last season going into the summer, it was always a priority in terms of where I wanted to be. It took its time, but I'm delighted it's gone through."
The club-record fee is believed to be "almost three times" what Preston paid for Callum Lang in January, which was reportedly around £2m.
Preston's new signing has penned a five-year contract with the club, following the season in which he won the club's Young Player of the Season.
The 21-year-old joined Spurs from Wigan Athletic back in 2020 and went on to be the club's youngest-ever goalscorer. He netted in Tottenham Hotspur's FA Cup win against non-league side Marine aged 16 years, 163 days in 2021, writing himself into history.
Devine has had loan spells at Port Vale, Plymouth Argyle, Westerlo in Belgium, and his most recent loan deal was with Preston North End. The Lancashire loan saw him pick up 14 goal involvements in the EFL Championship in 45 appearances. He was strong in front of goal for the Lilywhites, helping them to a 14th-place finish in the table.
