Neymar Jr helped his boyhood club Santos avoid relegation from the Serie A Betano in 2025 by scoring eight goals in the 2025 league season.

Towards the latter stages of the season, Neymar was told he had picked up a meniscus injury and that he would require surgery on the injury.

The injury would sideline Neymar from action in the most important part of the season, so the Brazilian delayed surgery until after the conclusion of the campaign.

This allowed him to still help Santos towards the end of the season, as they looked to avoid relegation.

The 33-year-old certainly played his part in helping Santos, as he scored five and got one assist in their final four matches of the campaign.

As the season concluded, Neymar underwent successful surgery on his injury, as he aims to be part of Brazil’s 2026 World Cup squad.

This year, Neymar will continue to play for Santos, as he has recently extended his contract with the club by an additional year, which will see him remain with the team until December 2026.

Santos finished 12th in the league table, which confirmed that they will play in the Copa Sudamericana in 2026.

Neymar has spoken about how he is hoping to play in this year's World Cup with Brazil, which is being played in Canada, the USA and Mexico.

In Brazil's group at the summer tournament, they will play Morocco, Haiti and Scotland.

Carlo Ancelotti's side, in March, will take on France and Croatia in friendlies in their last preparations before the competition begins.

Do you think Neymar will be a part of Brazil's 2026 World Cup squad?
