Multiple EFL clubs hold an interest in York City's Josh Stones

22-year-old Josh Stones has scored 13 goals this season across all competitions for York City, and has 12 in the National League. The forward has impressed since completing a permanent move to the side from the North, after leaving Wigan Athletic last year.

Stones has played a big role in York's season so far, with the club currently sitting top of the National League. The Minstermen have won all of their last nine matches.

According to Alan Nixon, five EFL League One clubs hold an interest in the York City attacker. Those clubs include: Luton Town, Oxford United, Reading, Stockport County and Wycombe Wanderers.

The 22-year-old forward has five goal involvements in his last three games for York City, and the attacker is showing his quality in the fifth tier. Due to his impressive performances for the non-league outfit, multiple EFL clubs have raised eyebrows at the attacker. Five League One clubs hold an interest in him, and there will be more teams who are looking to sign Stones in the summer.

He has already proven to be a great goalscorer at National League level, but interest from clubs in the third tier believe he could do it at a higher level. The attacker is contracted to the Minstermen until the summer of 2028, and City would want to recoup a large transfer fee for him, after they spent a rumoured £350,000 on him last year.

York City find themselves in a two-horse race at the moment for the National League title, alongside Rochdale. The club from Greater Manchester has a game in hand over the league leaders and they are only one point behind.

If York City fail to secure promotion this season, a move away from the York Community Stadium for Josh Stones could increase.
