Manchester United's stance on Aurélien Tchouaméni revealed

Manchester United are in the market for midfielders this summer following the departure of Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte's season-ending ACL injury at the World Cup. Before the window opened, United were heavily linked with numerous midfielders, but their targets are moving to other clubs, and their options are reducing.

They were linked with Manchester City's Elliot Anderson and Tottenham Hotspur's Mateus Fernandes before both players completed moves to their current clubs.

One name that Man United have been strongly linked to is Real Madrid's Aurélien Tchouaméni, whose future with los Blancos looks uncertain. Reports have circulated that Real Madrid would be open to offers around £86 million for the France international. Tchouaméni and Real Madrid had a difficult season across all competitions, failing to lift a trophy. The Frenchman was also involved in a huge incident with teammate Fede Valverde, which caused huge tension in the dressing room.

Now, Manchester United are reportedly keeping a close eye on Tchouaméni's situation at the Santiago Bernabeu this summer. The 26-year-old has spent the last four seasons with Real Madrid, but following a memorable season for the wrong reasons, his time with the club could be coming to an end.

Man United have missed out on two of their top targets in Elliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes, so they need to act soon if they are to get another midfielder who is high on their priority list. Alex Scott from Bournemouth and Felix Nmecha from Borussia Dortmund have both been linked with a potential switch to Old Trafford this summer too.

Atalanta midfielder Ederson is expected to become United's first summer signing, with a deal expected to speed up following Brazil's exit from the 2026 World Cup.

It seems like United were priced out of moves for Anderson and Fernandes, which could potentially hinder their push for other top targets. With Nmecha, Scott and Tchouaméni all costing large fees, it is not a cert that Man United will push for one of those options, due to the potential fee involved.
