Graham Alexander appointed as Preston North End's new manager

Preston North End have confirmed the appointment of Graham Alexander as the club's new manager.

Bradford City's Graham Alexander has left the Bantams to join Championship side Preston as the club's new manager. He and his assistant manager, Chris Lucketti, have both made the switch to the Championship.

During his time with the Bantams, Alexander helped guide the club to League One, after securing promotion with a 96th-minute winner. He then helped take the club to last season's League One play-offs, before they were defeated by eventual winners Bolton Wanderers.

This season, Bradford City currently sit top of League One, with 15 points from seven games. The Yorkshire outfit has won their last five in all competitions, and has won nine of their 11 fixtures this season.

Bradford City have the best defence across the entire EFL in the league this season, conceding only four goals in seven.

Now the side will search for Graham Alexander's replacement as he heads to Preston North End. The Lilywhites find themselves second from the bottom of the Championship table after eight matches.

They have won just one game this campaign in 90 minutes and are hoping their managerial change can boost their league position.

North End are three points off Cardiff City, who are outside of the relegation zone. After the international break, Alexander will take charge of his first fixture in the dugout as Preston boss, as his new side hosts Millwall.
