Borussia Dortmund's Carney Chukwuemeka has been linked with an international allegiance switch from England to a fellow European nation. The country in question is Austria.
The midfielder has represented England at youth level, but Austria are looking at working on an allegiance switch before the 2026 World Cup. The former Villa and Chelsea player spent his early life in Austria, which makes him eligible for the country's national team.
This season, the 22-year-old has played 26 games, scoring three goals. He has featured in all of Borussia Dortmund's last 10 matches across all competitions, making him a key player in the squad this season.
Chuwuemeka is yet to make an appearance for the Three Lions' first team, which could tempt him to switch to Austria. Ralf Rangnick is the current boss of the national team, and his side has lost only once in the World Cup qualifying stage. Their biggest win in the qualifying stage was a 10-0 win vs San Marino.
Austria are in group J at the World Cup, along with Argentina, Algeria and Jordan.
Do you think Carney Chukwuemeka will switch his national team allegiance before the 2026 World Cup?
