Brilliant Jude Bellingham sends England to the World Cup semi-finals

England picked up a monumental win last week in Mexico City, defeating Mexico at the Azteca. The 3-2 thriller saw Jude Bellingham score twice, and Harry Kane net from the penalty spot.

The win booked England's spot in the final eight of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the Three Lions facing Norway in Miami. The Scandinavian outfit defeated Brazil in the round of 16, as Erling Haaland scored a brace against the South American side.

The quarter-final fixture was an exciting tie, with the winner awaiting either Switzerland or reigning champions Argentina.

The first big piece of action came in the 36th minute, when Norway took the lead. A high, whipped cross from Andreas Schjelderup found the top corner, beating Jordan Pickford. Norway had taken the lead, and England were left surprised, with less than 10 minutes to play.

On the stroke of half-time, Jude Bellingham burst into the box before delivering a low, powerful strike into the bottom corner. The Three Lions were level just before half-time, but the action was not done there. Shortly after drawing level, Harry Kane dinked a strike over Orjan Nyland, and England thought they were in front.

However, the Bayern Munich striker was judged offside, and the goal was ruled out. The score at the break was 1-1, with both sides showing positive signs in the opening 45.

The second half saw a cagey affair between the two European nations, who were hoping to book their spot in the final four in 90 minutes. But, at the full-time whistle, the score was still level at 1-1. A minimum of 30 extra minutes were to be played, with potentially a shootout to decide the tie.

Norway came closest to taking the lead in regular time, hitting the bar and seeing a goal ruled out for a push inside the box from a corner.

Just three minutes into extra-time, a long-range strike from Morgan Rogers was parried back into play before Bellingham pounced on the loose ball. Real Madrid's midfielder reacted the quickest and converted home, doubling his side's advantage. Bellingham had his second of the game, and England were 2-1 up.

Substitute Djed Spence made things even better for England as he won his side a penalty. However, a VAR check ruled the foul inside the box not worthy of a penalty, and the match resumed at 2-1.

England held out and won 2-1, knocking out Norway to reach the semi-finals. The Three Lions will face reigning champions Argentina in the semi-finals following their 3-1 win against Switzerland.
