Jose Mourinho's Benfica travelled to Arouca at the weekend, with Benfica looking to keep themselves in the Liga Portugal title race.

Benfica were unbeaten in the league prior to the game, and they were looking to continue their impressive run in the league away from home. Arouca shocked the Eagles by taking the lead in the seventh minute of the match, scoring from the penalty spot.

Iván Barbero scored in the first 10 minutes to give his side the lead. Jose Mourinho's side found themselves behind, and they were looking to move four points behind league leaders Porto before their match on Sunday.

At half-time, Arouca were in front 1-0, and they were looking to shock Benfica by beating them at home.

Shortly after the second half began, Benfica were level. Colombian midfielder Richard Rios levelled in the 50th minute, giving his side 40 more minutes to search for the winner. The Eagles are top of the form guide across each sides last 10 matches, and they were looking to add another win to their title push.

In added-time, the score was 1-1 and time was running out for Benfica. Dropping points away against Arouca would be hugely damaging for thier title push, which would have seen them 10 points off the league leaders at the end of matchday 26.

Despite time running out, 22-year-old Franjo Ivanovic was the hero for Benfica, as he scored in the 96th minute for his team. The Croatian attacker scored his fourth league goal of the campaign, and it was an important one to keep Benfica's hopes of a first-place finish alive.

After the weekend's matches were played, Benfica were third in the league, level on points with second-place Sporting. However, Sporting have played one league game less than Benfica. Porto remain top of the table, and have a seven-point gap to second place.

The Dragons also do not play either Benfica or Sporting CP in their remaining league fixtures.
