Real Madrid have been heavily linked with Rodri this summer, following an impressive 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign. However, fellow La Liga side Barcelona are reportedly interested in the Manchester City midfielder.

Reports earlier today confirmed that Barcelona are interested in the holding midfielder this summer, following contract talks with Real Madrid stalling.

The Catalan side, who won La Liga last season, are looking to strengthen the middle of the park ahead of their title defence.

The Spaniard is set to miss the beginning of the upcoming campaign, however, as he undergoes surgery on a minor issue.

The Ballon d'Or winner's contract with the Cityzens expires at the end of next season, so City could be tempted to recoup a fee for the midfielder. While Real Madrid love to sign a player on a free, interest from Barça could push Madrid to complete a deal quickly.

Manchester City have already completed the signing of Elliot Anderson and have been heavily linked with Lille OSC midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi, who could be seen as the Rodri replacement.

Reports have stated that Rodri would like to return to Spain, where he was before joining Man City. He started his career at Villarreal before joining Atlético Madrid for one season. He then made the move to England in 2019, and the rest is history.

Now, two Spanish giants are seemingly interested in the 30-year-old, but the question is: 'If he does leave, who does he join?'
